Impax launches institutional share class for Environmental Leaders
July 8 2008
Impax Asset Management ("Impax"), the specialist environmental
investment company has launched an institutional share class for
the IFSL Impax Environmental Leaders Fund ("IEL"), the all cap fund
launched in March 2008.
The share class will allow institutional investors to benefit from
the long-term secular growth characteristics of the environmental
sector, by investing in both "pure play" environmental businesses
and also larger, diversified companies with leading environmental
divisions.
Ian Simm, CEO of Impax, said: "The new share class has been launched to provide another channel for institutional investors to build their exposure to the environmental sector. In the past few years we have seen an overwhelming increase in investor interest in companies developing environmental technologies and products, which continue to offer excellent growth prospects."
IEL was established to provide long-term capital growth by investing in companies developing products and services to mitigate and solve some of the world's most pressing environmental problems. It invests in three key environmental sub-sectors where Impax has built up extensive specialist knowledge and experience. These sub-sectors are:
· Alternative Energy and Energy Efficiency
· Water Treatment and Pollution Control
· Waste Technologies and Resource Management
About IFSL Impax Environmental Leaders Fund ("IEL"):
Fund Criteria: IEL invests globally in companies quoted on recognised stock exchanges which derive at least 20% of their revenues or profits from, or have at least 20% of their capital invested in, the environmental sector. However, many of the companies in the portfolio will have a much larger proportion of their revenue derived from the environmental sector.
For Institutional Investors: The institutional share class has an annual management charge of 1% and an initial charge of up to 5%. Minimum investment is £500,000.
Who manages IEL? The IEL fund is managed by the highly successful Impax team, including Ian Simm, Bruce Jenkyn-Jones and Simon Gottelier. IEL benefits from Impax's 10 year track record of managing funds focused exclusively on the environmental sector, and the robust Impax investment process, with its strong emphasis on valuation.
Investment Fund Services Ltd (IFSL) is the Fund's Authorised Corporate Director. Therefore, IEL is listed as the IFSL Impax Environmental Leaders Fund, but Impax Asset Management Ltd manage the underlying assets of IEL in their role as appointed Investment Adviser.
